Giscours draws its legend from the majestic hills which surround it, the body of its terroir. Cradled by the winds, facing the Gironde, this Margaux, with its exemplary finesse, is regarded as a benchmark. Host of the splendid renaissance château, Eric Albada Jelgersma, a long-time Francophile Dutch businessman and lover of the Médoc, now presides over the promising destiny of Giscours.

Giscours has a rich history dating back to the fourteenth century. Indeed, it was in 1552 that Pierre de Lhomme created a vast estate around it and planted the very first vines.

It obtained the title of Third Cru Classé in 1855.

Tasting notes

Château Giscours 2014 is a very expressive Margaux, voluptuous and with a rich aromatic palette of black fruits (crushed blackberry, blackcurrant) and red fruits (wild raspberry), developing over a few balsamic fragrances. The palate displays a neat tannic structure playing on the register of power (sap with tight and fine grain) and warmth at the finish. The tannin is well extracted and robustly structured but this very classic wine is more powerful than usual this year. The whole is well-balanced and shows a serious retention capacity.
